The new Kuusumun Profeetta album Lyhtykuja will be released in July. The exact date and more details will be available very soon. See the website of the record company Ektro Records.

The launch of the new Kuusumun Profeetta album Lyhtykuja is getting closer. Some minor delays prevent us from defining the exact release date yet, but it will be in a few months. To reward your patience (or make the impatience even worse), a taster of what is to come, a song called Lyhtykuja: loppu is now available on our MySpace site.

The new year 2008 looks bright and busy for Kuusumun Profeetta! A new full-length album will be out... a debut DVD will be out later... a new website will be revealed during the first months of the year. See you all!

December 14th, Kuusumun Profeetta will play their first ever concert in Belgium. Kuusumun Profeetta will perform in Arts Centre Vooruit, Gent. The concert is a part of an event featuring other Finnish artists as well.

Kuusumun Profeetta will hit the studio in November to begin the recording of their next studio album, tentatively entitled Lyhtykuja (The Alley of Lanterns). The new material fills the Prophets with great excitement...

In late 2007, SEEKER will release Kuka minä olen?, an audiovisual graphic novel by Marko Alanen and Kuusumun Profeetta bass player Mikko Elo. The TRAILER is now available.

Kuusumun Profeetta promotional video Hattu ja Kompassi will be presented in Seoul International Film Festival, Seoul, South Korea. Hattu ja Kompassi will be shown in Seoul in the 11th and 14th of September. The video is also available in the internet screening of the festival.

The Prophets are overwhelmed by the enormous success of the spectacular concert in Porin Teatteri, 25th August. The magic night in the sold out theatre was really something that we will remember for the rest of our lives.

Kuusumun Profeetta would humbly like to thank the numerous people who made this event possible. A special thank you belongs to the wonderful audience. We are really looking forward to organizing special Kuusumun Profeetta events like this somewhere in the future...

Porilainen Kuusumun Profeetta -yhtye toteuttaa elokuun 25. päivänä yli 12-vuotisen uransa suurimman konsertin. Yhtye esiintyy upeassa Porin Teatterissa vierailevien muusikoiden, kuoron ja jousisoittajien kanssa. Kaksituntinen spektaakkeli alkaa kello 20. Ovet avataan kello 19.

25th of August 2007 will mark the biggest concert in Kuusumun Profeetta history so far. The band will perform in Porin Teatteri, one of the most beautiful venues in Finland, with guest musicians, choir and strings. The 2-hour spectacle will begin at 20.00. Kuusumun Profeetta is one of the bands displayed in Nahka on Rock exhibition, in Friitalan Nahkamuseo, Ulvila. The exhibition features the history of Finnish rock music. Performance costumes, photos and other objects from the history of Kuusumun Profeetta are present. The exhibition opens 23.5.2007 and will be open until the end of the year.

Kuusumun Profeetta will return to stage in May! The band will perform in Turku, Tampere and Helsinki (see concert dates for details). The live set will be an exciting mixture of Profeetta classics and brand new material!

Kuusumun Profeetta frontman, renaissance artist Mika Rättö has written and directed a new theatrical play Neljä ilmansuuntaa (Four Points of the Compass). The play will premiere in Cont'akti-teatteri, Pori, 30.3. at 7 pm and will be performed 14 times during April. Kuusumun Profeetta music video Hattu ja kompassi will be shown at Tampere Film Festival, taking place 7.-11.3. in Tampere, Finland. The video is part of the presentation including twenty best Finnish music videos of the year 2006.

The next generation of the Prophets was officially started in the 22nd of January, when Kuusumun Profeetta saxophone player Irina Niemelä gave birth to a baby boy (height 47 cm, weight 3040 g). The mother, the father and the newcomer are all well. Congratulations!

Kuusumun Profeetta bass player and ambassador Mikko Elo will make a special appearance on Radio Helsinki program Hello Helsinki, hosted by legendary radio DJ Njassa. The program will take place next Thursday, 14.12. at 17.00-19.00. The latter hour of the show will be a Kuusumun Profeetta special, featuring in-depth interview of Mr. Elo as well as music of Kuusumun Profeetta and related artists. A RADIO SHOW NOT TO BE MISSED!

The new Kuusumun Profeetta CD EP Riemun ja kurjuuden sälekaihtimet will be released in the 6th of December. The EP includes four unreleased Prophet tracks: Tahdon, Armaani tulta ja tappuraa, Kuin kaksi marjaa and Jalokivet. Riemun ja kurjuuden sälekaihtimet is an independent parallel work of the highly acclaimed full-length album Hymyilevien laivojen satama. The EP is released by Fonal Records.

The new Kuusumun Profeetta related supergroup Teemu Elon Puhuvat Eläimet is on MySpace: Teemu Elon Puhuvat Eläimet. Three song samples are available.

Not one but TWO brand new, never-before-seen Kuusumun Profeetta music videos will be screened in Oulu Music Video Festival, taking place in Oulu, 6.-10.9.

Furthermore, one of them, Oraakkeli, is made for an instrumental song that has NEVER BEEN RELEASED and will be available exclusively as a soundtrack to this video artwork, directed by famed filmmaker Petri Hagner.

The other one is Hattu ja kompassi, a song from the latest Kuusumun Profeetta CD Hymyilevien laivojen satama. The video Hattu ja kompassi, directed by Samuli Malmi, will participate in Finnish Music Video Contest 2006.

Mikko Elo and Jarmo Karonen will give a presentation of their narrative artwork Tyhjiö in Blue Sea Film Festival, Rauma and in Finncon science fiction and fantasy event, Helsinki, 18th and 19th of August. Following a highly successful debut, Teemu Elon Puhuvat Eläimet will perform again, 26.8. at Voltti-Talo, Eurajoki. More about this event at VOLTTI.

Meanwhile, Kuusumun Profeetta are creating a concept and music for their next album, as well as planning another exciting, still secret future release...

The new, exciting band Teemu Elon Puhuvat Eläimet will give their debut performance 3.8. in Cafe Jazz, Pori. The line-up features two Kuusumun Profeetta members, Mikko Elo (bass) and Mika Rättö (drums), as well as great fellow musicians Teemu Elo (vocals, guitar), Ville Leinonen (keyboards, vocals) and Alpo Nummelin (percussion). The show will start at 9pm. Anyone interested in good, original music combining tradition and adventure, there is no reason to miss this!

The first official Kuusumun Profeetta T-shirts are available. The shirts are hand-printed with a technique that makes every shirt unique. Kuusumun Profeetta T-shirts are designed and printed by Mervi Hilvo who studies textile art and design in the University of Art and Design, Helsinki.

The Prophets' bass player Mikko Elo has created and released a narrative unified artwork called Tyhjiö (Void) together with his partner-in-crime Jarmo Karonen. More about this project on Tyhjiö website.

The new Kuusumun Profeetta CD Hymyilevien laivojen satama (Harbour Of The Smiling Ships) is released by Ektro Records in the 27th of March. This magnificent opus carries ten new Prophet tracks, featuring Syysaika (Autumntime), Ammeellinen kyyneleitä (Bath Full Of Tears) and Hän jota ei ollutkaan (He Who Never Was). The release of the album will be celebrated by several concerts, including a one-of-a-kind performance in Kanneltalo with special guest musicians.

Kuusumun Profeetta (Moon Fog Prophet) is one of the ten artists selected to Jukeboksi, a French promo quiz on Finnish rock and techno music. An English version is also available.

Hymyilevien laivojen satama recording session in Hästholmen, Helsinki in the midst of October was a tremendously successful and marvellous experience for the Prophets. Some magic moments of the Prophetic Creation will be revealed here in the future, in images and words.

The additional recording and mixing of the epic will continue as the winter solstice draws nearer. Early 2006 will testify the rise of the new Kuusumun Profeetta CD. Everyone can expect both the expected and unexpected...

Kuusumun Profeetta gave a surprise performance at the 40th anniversary celebration of Kankaanpään Taidekoulu (Kankaanpää Art School) in the 23rd of September. The revellers witnessed a special line-up rampaging through free-form versions of selected Kuusumun Profeetta classics as well as brand new numbers. Fellow musicians Harri Sippola (Magyar Posse) and Alpo Nummelin (Doktor Kettu, Veli Kurki) made a guest appearance.

The next chapter in the adventurous Kuusumun Profeetta saga will be revealed around the turn of the year 2005/2006. The eagerly anticipated CD will be called Hymyilevien laivojen satama. The hard-working Prophets are characterizing the music on the CD as "a Journey from the Trilogy to the Mythology".

All details including the date of release, the song titles and the artwork will be available in the upcoming months. Patience, friends! The Prophets will reign!

Guitar player Jyrki Laiho is no more a member of Kuusumun Profeetta. The Prophets would like to thank Mr. Laiho for his wonderful contribution to the band during the recent years and wish him all the best.

Kuusumun Profeetta offers you a wonderful opportunity to experience Prophetic performance in the unique atmosphere of Kanneltalo concert hall, Helsinki. The concert will be 3.3. at 19.00. The performance features many new songs from the upcoming Kuusumun Profeetta CD as well as classics from the earlier recordings.

In the meantime, you can witness the Prophets next weekend (26.2.) in Telakka, Tampere.

The documentary film Isolinnankatu (see below) will be shown on screen and TV in a few days. DocPoint film festival will present the film 15.1. at 14.00 in Bio Rex, Helsinki. The TV premiere will be on Finnish national TV, YLE TV2 Dokumenttiprojekti, 19.1. at 22.05.

News 2004 (from the latest to the first):

Mika Rättö will have his art exhibition Mielikuvituksia satujen todellisuudesta (Fantasies from the Reality of Fairytales) in Poriginal galleria, Eteläranta 2, Pori, 1.1.-18.1.2005. The exhibition will be open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 to 18. The opening ceremony will be held 30.12.2004 from 18 to 20. The exhibition will feature only new original paintings by the maestro Mika Rättö himself.

The documentary film Isolinnankatu will be premiered in Promenadikeskus, Pori, 5.9. at 18.00. The music of the film has been supervised by Kuusumun Profeetta bassist Mikko Elo. Among the composers/musicians are several members of Kuusumun Profeetta.

Isolinnankatu is part of Toinen Suomi project launched by Finnish national TV. The documentary will be shown on YLE TV2 later on.

Finnish digital TV channel YLE Teema will show a highly creditable 30 minute documentary film about Kuusumun Profeetta, 3.5. at 20.00. The film is called Kuukkarilaiset and it is a part of Takamaa popular culture documentary series.

Meanwhile, you can also catch Kuusumun Profeetta on SubTV. The coverage of Jyrock festival will be aired on Mehuhetki program, 24.4. or 1.5.

The soundtrack CD for the theatrical play Oopperse le Feti le Grande Anaale (see Drama section) is released by Fonal Records. The CD features Mika Rättö as well as members from the great fellow band, Magyar Posse.

Kuusumun Profeetta is featured on SubTV Sessions next Saturday, 13th of March. The show will be aired at 17.30. You can expect an interview, a video and concert clips.

Sanansaattaja Oraakkeli Salamurha Hyökkäysvaunu stays on the Finnish chart at #36.

The theatre group Teatteri Moderni Kanuuna, led by Mika Rättö, will visit Turku and Tampere with the play Kyseenalainen avaruusseikkailu: Murheenkapselista galleriaan ja asemalle. The schedule and more information on the Drama section.

Sanansaattaja Oraakkeli Salamurha Hyökkäysvaunu hit the official Finnish chart at #27.

Kuusumun Profeetta will be featured on YLE TV1 (Finnish national TV) Top40 programme. The show will be aired on Friday 13.2. at 18.36 and repeated on Sunday 15.2. at 15.30 (local time). Kuusumun Profeetta interview and the brand new video Me olemme veitsi joka viiltää are included.

Kovin lentäen kotiin kaipaan is the opening track of the Jazzflora compilation cd by Dealers of Nordic Music.

The long-awaited new Kuusumun Profeetta CD Sanansaattaja Oraakkeli Salamurha Hyökkäysvaunu is out. Official release date is Friday, the 30th of January, 2004. On that day the CD should be available in all the well-respected record stores in Finland.

There has been a slight delay in pressing the new CD. Nevertheless, it should be available for everyone in a couple of weeks. Patience...

Special release party of the new CD will be held at Bar Kino, Pori, on the 25th of January. This unique event will feature a full-scale Kuusumun Profeetta show as well as the premiere of the new video Me olemme veitsi joka viiltää.

Doors will open at 19, showtime will be at 20. Everyone is welcome.

Kuusumun Profeetta are proud to announce that the release date of the CD Sanansaattaja Oraakkeli Salamurha Hyökkäysvaunu is the 12th of January, 2004.

As a special gift to you all, we present here , a prologue track that will not be available on the CD or anywhere else.

OUBS, a TV channel run by students of Helsinki University of Technology, is making a program about Kuusumun Profeetta. This program includes an interview, live material from the recent concert in Mocambo and the music video Häivähdys. The channel is already running a 12-minute insert that will be shown several times in the near future. A full-length version will be completed later. More detailed information about the broadcasts on www.oubs.fi.

Kuusumun Profeetta are currently in Sound Doctor studio giving finishing touches to their forthcoming CD Sanansaattaja Oraakkeli Salamurha Hyökkäysvaunu, an epic spectacle, featuring might, magic, adventure and high emotion... The CD will be out on Ektro Records in the not-so-distant future. The date of release will be announced here as soon as it is available. Song titles included are Me olemme veitsi joka viiltää, Jumalat liekeissä, Saa rakkaus vuoria odottaa and many more.

The new theatrical play, Kyseenalainen avaruusseikkailu: Murheenkapselista galleriaan ja asemalle, written and directed by Mika Rättö, will premiere on the 28th of November in Kulttuuritalo Annankatu 6, Pori. The exact schedule and more information on the Drama section.

The legendary English folk group Fairport Convention will visit Finland for two concerts in October. Kuusumun Profeetta is very proud to be their opening act. Check out concert dates for dates and venues.

Hot Igloo has quit its booking agency functions and only works as a record label from now on. Kuusumun Profeetta is currently looking for a new agency. In the meantime every offer for a concert or other performance should be directed straight to the band. Kuusumun Profeetta would like to thank Hot Igloo for co-operation.

A promotional video for Kuusumun Profeetta song Häivähdys has seen the light of day. This audiovisual work of art, written and directed by Mikko Elo, can be seen on several occasions in the future, including the Oulu Music Video Festival in late August.

Brand new Kuusumun Profeetta 7" Noita / Myrskyn ytimessä is out on Fonal Records, including two new, unreleased tracks.

The massive surprise celebration was held to honor the 30th birthday of Mika Rättö on the 5th of April. The many astonishing live acts included members from Magyar Posse, Circle, Ville Leinonen & Valumo, Office Building, Alien Heat and of course from Kuusumun Profeetta... a classic evening. Once more, congratulations and big hail to maestro himself!

Kuusumun Profeetta song Kovin lentäen kotiin kaipaan appears on a compilation cd packed with March issue of British Muzik magazine. Featuring hilarious misspellings and even more hilarious characterization by DJ Gilles Peterson: "I've been told it's made by a bunch of hippies"...

New exclusive Kuusumun Profeetta interview can be found on Psychotropic Zone, both in English and in Finnish.

Two Kuusumun Profeetta songs are featured on new compilations. Kovin lentäen kotiin kaipaan appears on a cd called On The Right Track by a Canadian label Do Right! Music. Another track originally on Kukin kaappiaan selässään kantaa, Kysymysten sali appears on Sunny Side Up 2 by EMI Austria.

As a special New Year gift we open the prophetic vaults once again and present you two previously unreleased tracks. Underwater Spy is an outtake from the studio sessions of When They Opened Their Parachutes... Silence. Industrial Coal Mining Company is an instrumental piece which used to open a few Moon Fog Prophet concerts but did not quite belong to the world of MERN3336 - A Mirror To The Marble-Coated Solar System where it was originally going to be released.

Kuusumun Profeetta Supersankari Tour - a 5-concert tour with legendary Damo Suzuki and his current group Network - was a huge success and a fantastic experience. In 1995, Moon Fog Prophet - or Moon Fog Project as they were called in the early days - went on to record their first studio demo. The original quartet came out with a 5 song tape. From these sessions we present you A Room, an early concert favourite never released before.

From now on, on this site, Moon Fog Prophet / Kuusumun Profeetta will present audio and video files from the archives of the band, unavailable anywhere else. The first one is Pysähtynyt I (Stagnant I), an additional song from the recording sessions of Kukin kaappiaan selässään kantaa. Here you are!

The new Kuusumun Profeetta CD Jatkuvasti maailmaa pelastamaan kyllästynyt supersankari (A Superhero Tired Of Constantly Saving The World) will be out on Ektro Records in August/September. The CD will include such songs as Ei aurinko milloinkaan laske (The Sun Never Sets), Onnellisen valkoinen (Happily White) and Häivähdys (Flicker). The band will celebrate the release by touring Finland with Damo Suzuki Band in October. Exact dates to be available...
